The CVPSA exists to enhance the safety and quality of life of the people of Barre and Montpelier

The Central Vermont Public Safety Authority (CVPSA) is a union municipal district legislatively formed to enhance the safety and quality of life of the people of Barre and Montpelier (total population approximately 17,000) and improving dispatching services for many fire departments in Central Vermont. By combining the cities’ public safety resources into a single entity, the CVPSA’s Board of Director’s intent is to provide a more efficient and effective emergency response, as well as expand the education and training opportunities for the men and women working in public safety services. Barre City, Vermont, Montpelier, Vermont, and the Capital Fire Mutual Aid District are members of the CVPSA.
